Reader not recognized with older Sharp OSA 3.5
On the newer Sharp models running OSA 5 or 6 the card reader is recognized and is working correctly. But on the older models running OSA 3.5 when they go through the process of registering the card the reader, the device says “reader not recognized”.
Sharp has confirmed this and came up with this statement:
"A Sharp external accounting module is needed to enable external accounting or installing a card reader on older machines. It's an option purchased by the customer (A Software Key).
On the newer machines the customer has the option to purchase models with this option built in or not. On some models it's a standard feature. It may become standard on all models moving forward but that's why installing a card reader works on some machine and not others.
With that being said this option may not be available on older machines that have OSA 3.5. Those machines are about 10 to 12 years old and may not be supported anymore. In that case the customer needs to upgrade the machine. The customer would have to go back to the dealer to see external accounting module is still available for it or not."
